What is a data plate and where is it located in my manufactured home?

A HUD label is a metal plate permanently affixed to the outside of a manufactured home verifying that the home was built to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) standards. These national standards, sometimes referred to as the HUD Code, include requirements for the safety and durability of the home’s construction, fire safety and energy efficiency. The label contains a stamped number and a 3-letter designation that identifies the In-Plant Inspection Agency (IPIA).
